new year
We often move away from what we are to chase after some ideal, some image of what we should be. We see men and women on television, on social media, who have been followed and venerated for their great success in business or life endeavors. From here we imitate and follow that carefully manicured image, mechanistically, seeking outside ourselves what is unreal rather than understanding the real that is with us presently. We run to various organizations, comforts, religions, and groups, hoping to find that sense of security that we lack in our own company. Why do we seek security? Who is doing the seeking? If you come to the point to understanding this deeply for yourself, which is different than reading some book or what the author is writing now, you may be able to go beyond it. If intelligence truly operates beyond our limited mind, the very perception of a fact about ourselves can lead to a transformation in Being that requires no effort. Can you see the absurdity of this chasing, this constant pursuit of some superficial goal in your daily life? What is beyond the survival mechanisms of our mind, the desire to accumulate pleasurable experiences and permanency? By realizing loving attention to every word spoken and floating thought, life becomes a rich array of true learning and compassion for others. If you have to ask yourself one thing this year, ask this- are you different from that which you observe in yourself?
Happy New Year!
