quiet mind
Something beautiful occurs when the mind is completely quiet. When the chattering, anxious, burdened rapids of thought become like a glassy lake, absolutely still. Is it possible for the mind to become like this without effort? Surely, striving inevitably creates conflict, and therefore the silence it is not something to be cultivated. A mind trapped in its own wake is a prisoner of the past, constantly grasping onto logs and branches for security as it fights against the current. By bringing complete attention to the river itself, and realizing you are no different from it, the storm ceases, and there is equanimity.
